Easy Ways to Decorate Your Home
When I was younger I used to dream about growing up and living all by myself. I always wanted an independent living situation mostly because I was obsessed with the idea of having my own space that would reflect my style and taste. When I finally got the chance to live on my own, I realised how hard it is to manage finances and like most of you, I settled for less. It was only a few years ago that I realised that you don’t need a whole lot to level up your space and embrace your style. Here are a few tips that will help you celebrate your space

Be true to your taste and sensibility
It is good to keep up with the ongoing trends and appreciating them however when it comes to making decisions regarding my home, I like to be true to my taste and design sensibility. Consider your needs and style and invest in pieces that are unique to you. This will elevate your space and add soul to your home without breaking the bank.

Personalise
It is essential to have a personal connection with our home as it is a space that gives us respite from the intensity of our day to day life. Adding pieces that mean something to us not only adds visual appeal but also enhances our time at home. Whether it is a travel memento or a childhood photo, personal accessories bring back memories and add character to your home.

Refresh your rooms
Make the most of every space in your home and keep refreshing them. Put some thought into how you are showcasing pieces in your home to create a visual impact. Paint the walls with your favourite colour or add wallpaper, change your curtains or just add blinds, light candles and update your linens. If you have the budget consider changing the lighting and bed frame. There are endless options of refreshing your space and making it warm and inviting. Do it your way!

Declutter & Organize
It costs absolutely nothing to declutter your home and keep things that are not visually pleasing out of sight. Having said that, the process of decluttering and organizing should be done thoughtfully and efficiently. I usually start by deciding whether I want to keep, give away or throw an item. Once that’s done, I try to incorporate the pieces I decided to stick with, in my home’s decor. I love having baskets and storage units throughout my home as it gives me the liberty of hiding my less aesthetic pieces and cut the visual chaos.

Keep it casual
The best way to level up your space is by simply not trying too hard. The idea is to have a casual yet elegant space without overdoing it! Prioritize practicality more than anything else and create a space that matches your lifestyle. Don’t try to match and colour coordinate every item and definitely don’t fill every corner of your home for the sake of it. The styling doesn’t have to be flawless it has to be effortless!

Break the Rules
If you want your space to truly reflect your style, turn it into exactly what you like. Mix different styles and textures together, add vintage products with new pieces, stack art and books, lean mirrors against the wall; don’t be afraid to break the rules! Whether it is through the addition of your favourite accent chair or through introducing potted plants make your space speak for itself.
